Ayesha Basit and Nathan Prier of No One is Illegal Toronto will review both the successes and contradictions of the concept of Sanctuary Cities in the North American context using the example of the City of Toronto: Here, as a result of a campaign of a broad activist network, the city provides access to services and facilities to all their inhabitants – independently of their residential status – and lets the police refrain from routine controls of residential status. What possible links are there regarding the situation in Frankfurt?

Ayesha Basit und Nathan Prier von No One is Illegal Toronto berichten am Beispiel Toronto von den Erfolgen und Widersprüchen des Konzepts der Sanctuary Cities (Orte der Zuflucht) im nordamerikanischen Kontext: Infolge der Kampagne eines breiten aktivistischen Netzwerks hat die Stadt Toronto sich bereit erklärt, ihren Bewohner*innen unabhängig vom Aufenthaltsstatus Zugang zu Diensten und Einrichtungen zu gewähren und die Polizei auf routinemäßige Kontrollen des Aufenthaltsstatus verzichten zu lassen. Welche Anknüpfungspunkte gibt es im Hinblick auf die Situation in Frankfurt?
